Plantain wine is delicious!

This surprisingly easy recipe shows you how to make your very own delicious bottle of wine and teaches a brand new use for Plantains; a super versatile ingredient.

In Tanzania, a variation of this recipe known as Pombe Ya N’Dizi is quite popular and bananas are frequently used as alternatives to plantains with a few additional ingredients such as yeast and breadcrumbs

1. Peel and slice 5-7 over ripe plantains

2. Add to 6 liters of water in a large bowl that seals tightly and leave to ferment for three days.

3. On the third day strain the liquid and ensure a clean separation of water and plantain particles and throw away the chaff.

4. Meanwhile, boil a separate half-cup of water, add sugar to it to make a sugar syrup.

5. Add the newly created syrup to the strained plantain liquid in your jar.

6. Add 2-3 pounds of sugar to the entire mixture according to your taste and to create a unique flavor.

7. Refrigerate your plantain and its ready to drink.

Note:

– Your Plantain wine should be clean and see through.

– This recipe assumes a use of standard sized plantains.
